WASHINGTON – Reading scores on the SAT for the high school class of 2012 reached a four-decade low, prompting admissions counselors across the United States to raise an eyebrow over the drop.

Fifty-seven percent of students did not score high enough to indicate likely success in college, according to College Board, the organization in charge of administering the test.

To learn more about the test scores and what they mean, host Jessica Jordan spoke with Dr. Madhabi Chatterji, an associate professor at the Teachers College at Columbia University.
